Christopher Cornforth

Trustee

Christopher Cornforth

I’m Chris, I have a deep and long-standing interest in the governance of voluntary organisations. I was Professor of Organizational Governance and Management at the Open University Business School where I helped set up a management programme for people working in the voluntary sector. My research helped break new ground in understanding the behaviour of boards and their relations with senior managers. I have served on a number of boards, including Oxford Citizens Housing Association, and most recently as trustee of the Association of Chairs, that provides support to the Chairs of charities and other voluntary organisations.

I know from family and personal experience how challenging mental health problems can be, and how important the services of organisations like Response are. I’m keen to use my experience and expertise to contribute to the successful development of Response and the vital services it provides.

I have lived with my family in East Oxford for many years. In my spare time I enjoy cycling, gardening, reading, getting out into the countryside and helping to look after our granddaughter. I have undertaken a number of long-distance rides including cycling the length of France and Portugal.
